- Approve Minutes of October 3, 2013
The commission approved the minutes of October 3, 2013.
New Business
Members discussed and planned for the fiscal needs of the commission for the upcoming year. Tom will type this up and send it to members for final approval before submitting it to the town hall.
Linda shared news from the Climate Forum she attended in Hartford earlier today. The faith community discussed ways in which they can be more proactive in getting their faith communities to address and make changes to benefit the climate. Divesting in fossil fuels was one example.
Ongoing Business
Lauralyn reported on Health Day. The lack of people that came out for the event was reminiscent of Earth Day. A total of twelve people received information from the Conservation Commission table. Lauralyn noted that the venue, Christ the King’s meeting room, would be an ideal space for Earth Day. However, the rental cost of $750 would be difficult to justify until there is a better turn out.
George gave a brief overview of his meeting with Old Lyme High School’s Heather Fried where senior projects were discussed. Heather asked George to compile a list of topics the commission feels would be relevant.
George will write an article on solar for the next issue of Events.
Rogers Lake
Linda informed members that she is in receipt of the garden sign for Haine’s Park. Members agreed that a spring installation would be best.
Sue reminded members of the meeting at the town hall scheduled for November 18. This is a joint meeting between the selectmen from Old Lyme and Lyme as well as members of the Rogers Lake Authority.
The meeting adjourned at 9:05 pm.
Lauralyn Lewis, Secretary
